Rebuilding Catholic Culture Mini-Conference featuring Dr. Ryan Topping speaking on reclaiming the beauty of Catholic education

Rebuilding Catholic Culture presents “The Garden, the Desk, the Village:  Reclaiming the Beauty of Catholic Education” on August 10 and 11 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Saskatoon.  Featuring talks by Dr. Ryan Topping, Dr. Celene Sidloski, and Dr. Charles Robertson, this mini-conference explores the following questions:  What are the stages of formal education and why are they important?  How can the family build Catholic culture through education?  What is the role of imagination in education and how can literature foster this?  Why is a sense of order foundational to learning?  Opening keynote on Friday August 10 at 7pm is a free lecture.  The full-day Saturday event August 11, requires pre-registrationand features an opening Mass, 3 talks, lunch, and a panel/question period.  Cost of the full-day event is $40/couple, $25/single, or $10/student.  To reserve a ticket contact Celene Sidloski at csidloski@stmcollege.caor rebuilding.cc@gmail.comor phone (306) 715-1541.

L'Arche Prayer Night

The Program in Ecumenical Studies and Formation 2018 takes place July 10-13, 2018 at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 10 Grosvenor Crescent, Saskatoon. Visiting scholars this year are Dr. Sandra Beardsall and Archbishop Donald Bolen of Regina. Early bird registration is available until May 31 for $275. Registration deadline is June 15 (cost is $350 after March 31). Find registration forms and more details by e-mailing programs [at] pcecumenism.ca or calling (306) 653-1633, or see the website at www.pcecumenism.ca The Program in Ecumenical Studies and Formation offers participants who attend the annual event over three years a certificate in ecumenical studies and formation from St. Andrew’s College and the Prairie Centre for Ecumenism (PCE). The Program in Ecumenical Studies and Formation is of particular interest to ecumenical officers, those training for ministry, those engaged in ministry in an ecumenical setting, and lay people wishing to increase their knowledge of the ecumenical movement. Local scholars, ecumenists and international visiting scholars lead the program. Dr. Sandra Beardsall is an ordained minister of the United Church of Canada. Since 1997 she has been Professor of Church History and Ecumenics at St. Andrew’s College, Saskatoon. She is a member of the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches, co-chair of the national Anglican-United Church dialogue group, and co-author of a forthcoming book on ecumenical shared ministry congregations.Most Reverend Donald Bolen is Archbishop of Regina, who served as Bishop of Saskatoon from 2010 to 2016. Formerly on staff with the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity in Rome, where he worked on Anglican-Roman Catholic and Methodist-Roman Catholic dialogue, he is now a member of that same Pontifical Council. He presently serves on the International Consultation Between the World Evangelical Alliance and the Catholic Church and is Co-Chair of the International Anglican-Roman Catholic Commission for Unity and Mission and the Joint International Commission for Dialogue between the World Methodist Council and the Catholic Church.

Reward Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary at Holy Rosary Church, Reward, SK Sunday, July 8 Watch for more details about devotions and events during the day. Mass will ber held at 4 p.m., traditionally opening with a parade of parish banners.   Part of St. Joseph’s Colony, the Church of the Holy Rosary was built in 1918. In 1920 Count Berthold von Imhoff created 15 paintings for the church of the Mysteries of the Rosary. Holy Rosary Church is located 3 kilometres south of the hamlet of Reward, SK which is about 30 km southwest of Unity, SK on Grid 675 (south of Highway 14).

E., Saskatoon, held after Eucharistic Adoration.
