My beloved parishioners of St. Scholastica,

It is a matter of great joy to see a beautiful and vibrant parish community at St. Scholastica. And I am fortunate to serve you by way of my priestly ministry. Each one of you is a gift of God to this parish. What we are is God’s gift and what we would become is our gift to God. I congratulate and appreciate the parish council members and all the parishioners for the sacrifices you make in building up of this community. We shall grow as a loving Christian family so to say, “Look at how much they love each other”.

In his writings, the Danish theologian and philosopher Soren Kiekegaard tells a story about a Sunday service somewhere in Denmark. They are all singing about their willingness to receive Jesus: “Come, O Jesus, come!”

Suddenly the sacristan comes out of the sacristy to whisper something in the ear of the minister, who turns to them and says: “Jesus heard our prayer, he is in the sacristy, and he would like to see each one of you.” One by one they go to the sacristy, every woman and man. They are still singing when they knock nervously on the door. And indeed, there is Jesus, who has the same question for each of them:”Are you really my disciple?” Nobody dares answer the question. But as soon as they are safely in the church again, they sing again with all the others.

“No one who does not carry his cross and come after me can be my disciple.” We shall carry our cross and support others to carry theirs thus we shall live out the message of our Master in our parish.

Congratulations for opening a beautiful website for our parish and I am sure that this venture would be highly helpful to all the parishioners to get access to all the information of our parish.

May God bless each one of you.

Yours lovingly in Christ,

Fr. Johny Mangalath
